The chronicle begins in 1915 among the steel mills and laborers of Kokura in Fukuoka, moves to the yakuza-controlled shipyards of Kure in Hiroshima in 1929, navigates wartime tensions in Osaka's Minami district in 1943, experiences the post-war tourism boom of Atami in Shizuoka in 1951, and culminates in 1965 amidst the chaotic entertainment hub of Shinjuku, Tokyo, where the story will unveil the origins of the Tojo Clan from the Like a Dragon series.

The combat system introduces a highly intuitive independent dual-limb control scheme, requiring players to manipulate the protagonist's left and right sides separately. For example, you can block an incoming strike with one hand while simultaneously delivering a counter punch with the other, or execute heavy charge attacks to launch enemies and pin them to the ground. Players can also upgrade and wield period-accurate weapons like kitchen knives, hammers, and katanas for a weighty, brutal combat feel. Outside of fighting, Makoto dives into the entertainment business under his mentor's guidance. Players must scout talent on the streets, recruit singers and musicians, and even record environmental sounds around the city, such as car engines, animal noises, or the screams of defeated rivals, to mix into original tracks. You will then manage setlists, band lineups, and stage lighting to host spectacular shows across Japan.
