As of March 2026, the anime landscape reflects a combination of new productions, expanding franchises, and active fan engagement across different regions.
In terms of new anime projects and sequels, several titles have revealed major updates. The fantasy series 轉生哥布林有什麼問題嗎? has officially been confirmed for an anime adaptation. The story focuses on the theme of a “weak race rising against the odds,” following a protagonist who reincarnates as a goblin and gradually challenges the established order of the world. The anime is scheduled to premiere in October 2026. Meanwhile, the globally popular series Solo Leveling continues to break records. According to statistics from 2025, it has become the most-watched anime on the streaming platform Crunchyroll. Although a third season is currently being planned, reports suggest that it may not be released until as late as 2028.
Several new anime series also premiered at the beginning of 2026. Titles such as 花樣少年少女, 魔術師庫諾看得見一切, and 異國日記 began airing earlier this year, adding new variety to the seasonal anime lineup. At the same time, highly anticipated sequels have also released new promotional materials. Within the animation industry, there has also been a piece of sad news. Kyoto Animation, one of Japan’s most respected animation studios, recently lost its long-time president Hideaki Hatta. Hatta played a crucial role in guiding the studio’s development for many years, and his passing has prompted widespread condolences from anime fans around the world.
At the same time, Taiwanese creative works are gaining more international recognition. The light novel 貴族轉生~得天眷顧一出生就獲得最強力量~, written by Taiwanese creator 三木奈沙, has been adapted into an anime that premiered this year. To promote the series, voice actresses Karinn Nanami and Saki Miyashita visited Taipei to attend the Taipei International Comics & Animation Festival, where they interacted with local fans and participated in event activities.
Anime-related events in Taiwan have also been lively. The anime distribution brand Ani-One recently launched its “Anime Fun Tour” pop-up store events in Taipei’s Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and Kaohsiung Dream Mall. The pop-up stores feature merchandise from several popular franchises, including Jujutsu Kaisen, Haikyu!!, Kaiju No. 8, and Chiikawa, attracting large numbers of fans.
Meanwhile, changes to urban spaces in Taipei are also creating new opportunities for anime culture. Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation has recently reopened the Ximen Underground Mall and plans to introduce more anime and hobby shops into the area.
