Beyond boss strategies, the game also features two crucial hidden support items that significantly improve mobility. Missing them can make later platforming sections much more difficult. The first is the Balloon, which functions as a temporary floating platform. It is located in Pharaoh Man’s stage. Near the latter part of the level, in a quicksand area close to the boss room, there is a large pit—do not jump over it. Instead, fall into it to access a hidden room where the item can be found.

The second is the Wire, which launches a grappling hook upward to pull Mega Man to higher platforms. This item is hidden in Drill Man’s stage. As for combat tips, the Pharaoh Shot stands out as one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Additionally, Bright Man’s Flash Stopper is extremely useful in certain sections, such as the falling rock area in Drill Man’s stage. The recommended strategy is to position Mega Man slightly off-center and fire the Drill Missile at the precise moment when the twins merge, dealing maximum damage. The fourth and final boss of this castle is the Cossack Catcher, which flies in the air attempting to grab Mega Man. The strategy is to slide to dodge its grabs and jump to attack when it descends. Its weakness is the Dust Crusher weapon.

The second stage is Dr. Wily’s Castle. After rescuing Dr. Cossack’s daughter, the true antagonist, Dr. Wily, appears. This castle also consists of four levels. The first level’s boss is the giant roller, Mets Daddy, which has a weak point only on its head. Players should use the Ring Boomerang or Pharaoh Shot to target this weak spot. The second level features the Tako Trash, a wall-mounted enemy that throws bombs. The recommended approach is to jump to the highest platform and attack its core with the Ring Boomerang, as this is its main vulnerability. The third level is a Boss Rush featuring all eight Robot Masters from earlier in the game. Players should ensure their special weapon energy is sufficient, particularly for Pharaoh Man and Dive Man. The fourth level is the final showdown, including Wily Machine No. 4 and Wily Capsule. In the first form, the weakness is the Ring Boomerang, which should be aimed at the firing ports. The second form is invisible and represents one of the series’ most iconic black-screen battles. Wily teleports and shoots fireballs, with the Pharaoh Shot as the only effective weapon. A high-level strategy is to charge the Pharaoh Shot without firing it; when Wily appears above Mega Man, hitting him with the charged fireball from above deals even more damage than shooting it normally.

Before entering the castle sequences, it is highly recommended to farm nine E-Tanks in Toad Man’s stage. This stage has a large number of enemies and is relatively easy to defeat, making it the ideal supply station. Fully stocking up on life and special weapon energy here significantly improves the chances of surviving and succeeding in the most difficult castle challenges.
