復活邪神系列是由SQUARE當年推出的非傳統RPG遊戲，最早在Game BOY平台於1989年12月15日推出，日文名稱為魔界塔士 Sa・Ga，海外版則是以The Final Fantasy Legend(即外傳)進行銷售，之後則分別在SFC、PS、DS、PS2及PSV等平台推出續作。作品與太空戰士最大差別在於給予玩家更多自由度，可任意選擇關卡探索及開放世界冒險。SFC版復活邪神在日本都有突破百萬片的銷售量，但海外評價卻不佳，因此之後在2016年推出SFC版二代的手遊復刻版也只在日本推出。

1993年12月10日在日本上市的超任遊戲《復活邪神2/浪漫沙加2》（ロマンシング サ・ガ2/Romancing SaGa 2）由SQUARE開發及發行。復刻版則在Wii U Virtual Console發行，之後的改良版除強化畫質及音效外，還增加洞穴跟角色種類。在SFC初代中，故事情節會隨著玩家選擇，而導致不同劇情發展。二代開始更是設定每個主角各別的故事，任何指令操作或是隊友選擇都直接影響劇情發展。有別於傳統RPG，武器使用有次數限定。遊戲中不同的陣型排列，會影響到被攻擊的機率、先進行攻擊的能力、提升防禦能力。

很久以前傳說中的七英雄打敗終極魔王，和平再次降臨大地。人們的記憶總是短暫的，經過千年之後戰爭又再次爆發，這次發動的是卻是由原來七英雄暗黑化的七位惡魔。Avalon王國的統治者里奧(Leon)企圖終結這一起的混亂，在他去世後這個遺志留給他最年輕的兒子Gerard，於是開始組織團隊準備打敗七英雄。在打敗最後六位英雄後會發現，原來之前擊敗的都是分身，需要找到真正的七英雄…

玩家將扮演位在世界西北邊的Avalon王國皇帝或女帝。最上層的右側房間可以免費補眠，當探險取得錢財的時候，可以回到城堡內，財政官員會告知需要多少資金來發展新裝備跟魔法。當領土擴充越大，需要治理國家的資金就更龐大。如果有發生無法通關的狀態，可以詢問城內位在東南邊角落的顧問，他會指出目前世界需要解決的問題。

在地圖上的移動，只需要指令浮標就可進行跳躍。與初代不同的是不需要重頭到尾都用八位角色完成遊戲，須注意人物是有可能死去後就無法再生。副畫面的指令有1.狀態(Stat) 2.物品( Item) 3.裝備( Eqp) 4.魔法(Mgc) 5.技能(Skill) 6.陣列(Form) 7.設定(Cnfg) 8.存檔(Save)。

The Romancing SaGa series, originally developed and released by SQUARE, is a non-traditional RPG franchise that first debuted on the Game Boy platform on December 15, 1989, under the Japanese title Makai Toushi Sa・Ga. The overseas release was marketed as The Final Fantasy Legend (a spin-off). Later installments were released on various platforms such as the Super Famicom (SFC), PlayStation, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Vita.

The series’ most notable difference from Final Fantasy lies in the greater degree of player freedom—allowing open-ended world exploration and non-linear stage selection. The Super Famicom entries of Romancing SaGa achieved over one million sales in Japan; however, overseas reception was less favorable. This is why the 2016 mobile remake of the SFC Romancing SaGa 2 was released exclusively in Japan.

Originally released in Japan on December 10, 1993, Romancing SaGa 2 was developed and published by SQUARE for the Super Famicom. A re-release was later made available on Wii U Virtual Console, followed by an enhanced version that improved graphics and audio while adding new dungeons and character classes.

In the SFC debut entry, the storyline would change based on player choices, resulting in multiple narrative paths. Starting from the second game, each protagonist had a unique backstory, and every command choice or party member selection could directly affect the plot’s progression. Unlike traditional RPGs, weapons in the game have limited usage counts. Additionally, different party formations influence various battle factors such as the likelihood of being attacked, initiative in combat, and defensive capabilities.

The story takes place long after the legendary “Seven Heroes” once defeated the ultimate Demon King, restoring peace to the land. But as human memory is fleeting, a thousand years later, war erupts again—this time initiated by the same Seven Heroes, now corrupted into dark demon forms. Leon, the ruler of the Avalon Kingdom, seeks to end this chaos, but after his death, his will is passed on to his youngest son, Gerard. Gerard assembles a team to defeat the Seven Heroes. However, after defeating six of them, it’s revealed that they were merely clones—the real Seven Heroes still remain to be found and confronted.

Players take the role of the Emperor or Empress of Avalon, located in the kingdom’s northwest region. In the castle’s top floor right-side room, the player can rest for free. After acquiring treasure during exploration, players can return to the castle, where the finance officer will inform them of the funds required to develop new equipment and magic. As the empire expands, the cost of governance increases. If players are unsure how to progress, they can consult the advisor located in the castle’s southeastern corner for guidance on current world problems that need to be addressed.

On the world map, navigation is performed by moving the cursor, with quick travel options. Unlike the first game, it’s not necessary to keep the same eight characters from start to finish—though players must be mindful that characters who die in battle may be gone permanently. The sub-menu commands include: 1. Stat – View character status 2.Item – Manage inventory 3.Eqp – Equip weapons and armor 4.Mgc – Manage magic 5.Skill – View or use special skills 6.Form – Change party formation 7.Cnfg – Adjust game settings 8.Save – Save the game
