The game combines the large-scale combat mechanics of the Warriors (Musou) series with the world and visual style of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. As a prequel to Breath of the Wild, it takes players back a hundred years before the Great Calamity, offering a firsthand look at the events that led to the fall of the Kingdom of Hyrule.
