繼《寶可夢傳說 阿爾宙斯》後，第二款以「傳說」為名的遊戲，並首度推出 Nintendo Switch 2強化版，提供更高畫質、更順暢的體驗。故事發生在卡洛斯地區大都市——密阿雷市（Lumiose City）大規模改造期間，由神秘企業「Quasartico公司」主導都市綠化與智能化重建計畫。主角是作為初來乍到的旅人，入住「Hotel Z」，展開一段與寶可夢共存的新生活。初期可從三隻經典起始寶可夢中選擇夥伴，有菊草葉（Chikorita）、小鋸鱷（Totodile）、暖暖豬（Tepig）。

Following Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Z-A is the second title to carry the “Legends” name and marks the first time the series takes full advantage of Switch 2’s enhanced capabilities, delivering a richer, smoother experience. The story is set in Lumiose City, the urban heart of the Kalos region, during a large-scale renovation project led by a mysterious corporation known as Quasartico. Their goal: to greenify and modernize the city through advanced technology. You play as a newcomer arriving in the city, checking in at Hotel Z, and beginning a new life coexisting with Pokémon. Early in the game, you choose one of three classic starter Pokémon as your partner: Chikorita, Totodile, or Tepig.

As the narrative unfolds, you gradually uncover a dark conspiracy behind the city’s redevelopment, lost fragments of Kalos history, and the return of AZ, the legendary trainer who has lived for 3,000 years. Your choices—through dialogue, missions, and interactions with residents—directly influence the fate of Lumiose City. Departing from traditional turn-based battles, Z-A introduces a real-time combat system, allowing you to move in sync with your Pokémon, issue commands on the fly, dodge attacks, and time skill executions. Different moves come with unique hitboxes, casting times, and effects, adding new layers of intensity and strategy.

Battles aren’t limited to wild encounters either. In the bustling city streets, trainers may challenge you at any moment. Each evening, a special tournament called the Z-A Royale takes place. Starting from Z-Rank, you’ll climb toward A-Rank, aiming for a final prize: a chance to make a wish come true.

The Mega Evolution system makes a powerful return, with trainers using a Key Stone and corresponding Mega Stones to temporarily evolve their Pokémon into heightened forms during battle.
