《泰拉瑞亞》(Terraria,日文:テラリア)是由Re-Logic開發的2D沙盒動作冒險遊戲,於2011年首度在PC平台推出,之後陸續移植至多個主機與手持平台,包括PlayStation、Xbox、Switch與Wii U。在Wii U上,由505 Games發行,於2016年推出,以自由探索、建造、戰鬥為主的像素風作品首次登上任天堂主機。

The Wii U version, published by 505 Games, launched in 2016 and marked the first time the pixel-art sandbox title appeared on a Nintendo home console. It emphasizes open-ended exploration, building, and combat.

While Terraria doesn’t follow a traditional linear storyline, it offers a deeply immersive world rich with hidden lore and environmental storytelling. Players start with nothing and must survive, gather resources, build structures, and explore in a procedurally generated 2D world. The world features multiple zones—surface, underground, dungeons, and even hellish depths—each teeming with unique resources, enemies, and mysteries. For example, constructing large-scale structures becomes far more efficient by using the stylus to place blocks and decorations directly, making it friendlier for creative players compared to other console versions. The Wii U edition also supports local split-screen for two players and online multiplayer, allowing friends to collaborate on adventures, share loot, or take on the game’s most dangerous biomes together.

Gameplay blends platforming, gear management, and real-time combat. Players can craft a wide variety of weapons—from simple wooden swords to rocket launchers and magical staffs—as well as armor sets, defensive turrets, and traps to fend off increasingly difficult threats such as the Blood Moon, Goblin Army invasions, or Halloween-themed Pumpkin Moon events. Beyond combat, Terraria encourages creativity: players can build castles, sky islands, or subterranean cities to attract NPCs and form their own villages, offering a blend of architectural freedom and survival mechanics.

Critically, the Wii U version received a mixed but generally fair reception. Positive feedback focused on the game’s vast content, near-limitless replay value, and creative freedom. For the Wii U, which lacked similar open-ended sandbox experiences at the time, Terraria provided a refreshing option for players interested in crafting, exploration, and cooperative gameplay. While the GamePad’s touch controls weren’t as seamless as mouse-and-keyboard, they were widely seen as more accessible than traditional controller interfaces, especially for construction-focused players.

However, some criticisms were directed at the Wii U version’s technical limitations. Frame rate drops could occur during multiplayer sessions or in heavily built areas, and the overall performance lagged behind the PC version.
