Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Wang Hao-yu filed a complaint against him under the Election and Recall Act. If found guilty, Kuan Chang could face a fine of up to NT$1 million. The case quickly drew public attention, given his sharp rhetoric and outspoken political stance.

During his live stream on September 7, Kuan Chang announced that he would hand the case over to his lawyer while unleashing fierce criticism against the DPP.
